On the Search for Beauty

I want people to possess my pictures. To desire them for what they are, and to keep them as something precious.

I try to produce items of beauty, items of fine workmanship, Items which, by their scale are not good at “matching the curtains or cushions”. They are artworks, and should not be seen as a collection of signatures to be traded like so many phonecards or car license plates.

Although all my pictures are little more than my diary, each work an interpretation of my experiences, the ‘I’ is not important. I do not suffer great angst, or even feel a need to share an opinion on world events or social upheavals. I do not feel the need to include political messages or desperate attempts to affirm a national identity. For the correct owner my pictures require no explanation.

In my pictures I try to express that moment of love, that moment of belonging, or one of the rare moments when our emotions transcend the rational, and when for a brief moment we understand; the search for beauty.
